John Barrowman Will Return for Season 2 of ‘Arrow’ – Somehow
For a lot of us watching John Barrowman play Arrow‘s Malcolm Merlyn (the Dark Archer), it was the first time we’ve seen him be a real villain. Sure, there was that one time onDoctor Who, but this is the first time we really saw him embrace the role of a ruthless killer, and it was fun. At least until the season finale of Arrow came around and Malcolm’s fate was left in the wind.
With Season 2 of Arrow on the way, the villain responsible for the death of Oliver’s father and his time shipwrecked, is set to make a comeback. As for when he’ll return, producer Marc Guggenheim wasn’t forgiving in laying out a straight answer.
Part of the enjoyment of Season 2 for us is how do you combine the old – not the old – but the Season 1 villains with the new Season 2 villains, we’ve confirmed that John Barrowman is coming back. We are a show that does flashbacks. I don’t think it’s spoiling anything to say that John Barrowman’s scenes will be with Stephen [Amell].
Seeing as the two last shot it out in a building rigged to collapse, that might be Marc’s clever way of saying he’ll return only in flashbacks. On the other hand, Barrowman might very well return at some point in the living flesh – we didn’t see his body so he may have made it out. Perhaps with The Hood moving on to the more known role of Green Arrow, maybe we’ll see him return all scarred up and looking for a rematch by season’s end.
